One & A Possible

Sometimes you hear the word, ‘No’ so often that you come to expect it. I know I’m not alone here.

I applied for 1 fellowship and 5 residencies for the 2021-2022 program year for writing support for my next book, Thick Black Lines. Well, after receiving rejection letters for the fellowship and 3 of the residencies, I had given up hope that I’d receive a residency this time around. I told myself, “There’s always next year.”

Then, I received a ‘YES’ and a ‘Possibly’ from The Studios of Key West and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, respectively.

My take-a-ways:

  1. Never give up hope.

  2. What is for you, is for you.

  3. Keep moving forward no matter what!

That is all.

Dear Christie, I am glad that a “yes” and a “possibly” are on the table for a residency. I hope you have more opportunities as well. Wishing you the best on your journey to write Thick Black Lines. Warm regards, Leslie
